Default Bay Area Back Road Thread

I've got to get back to this road in the car sometime.
http://www.motorcycleroads.com/75/101/California/Twisty-Road---Next-140-miles!!!-(California-Route-36).html

Stage Rd
Jamison Creek
Pine flat
Empire Grade
Black Rd

If all the roads were clear of traffic then I would rank the roads in this order.
1. The backside of 84 (coast side)
2. Backside of 9
3. Stage
4. Jamison Creek
5. Front side of 9
6. Bonny Doon
7. Front side of 84
8. Alpine
9. Page Mill
10. The small sections of 35

Some of them are listed lower only because I don't know them as well as I'd like. For some odd reason the backside of 84 is just fun, some of the weightless transitions are one of a kind. Bonny Doon just has some cool sweepers with dips in them. Black Rd is cool but has far too many driveways.

Casey's
Santa Cruz Mountain Roads to have fun with:

- 84
- 9
- 35
- 1
- Highway 236/Big Basin Way
- Pescadero (my fave)
- old la honda
- page mill
- alpine
- kings mountain
- tunitas creek
- bonny dune

- there's a few more...that's off the top of my head.

Peter's
Felton-Empire Grade Road (different from Empire Grade)
Ice Cream Grade
Swanton Road
Stage
84 backside
9 backside
Bear Creek Road
Old Santa Cruz Highway
Sunol-San Jose Road
Mt. Charlie (bring diapers)

Chetly's
580 East to Palomares rd to Niles Canyon to Calaveras Rd to 680 south to Alum Rock up Mt Hamilton to James Lick Observatory(rest stop) Down the back side of the mountain on Hwy 130 (San Antonio Valley Rd) which turns into Mines Road that ends in Livermore.

Thats good for a 90+ mile loop that doesn't have a lot of traffic...

Whiteflash's
In North Bay:

Suisun Valley Rd -> Wooden Valley Rd -> 121 -> 128 then either head towards napa/Sonoma or around Berryessa

I got really lost reading this post.

All I know is that all the sport bikes who try to keep up with me in the Santa Cruz Mountains cant. Very very rarely, a knee-scraping-maniac is able to pass enough cars to pull away. If the knees aren't scaping, then they wont be able to keep up.

You have yet to meet the people I rode with.
You'll know when you do because they don't drag their knees, there's only a couple guys up there that are fast. Quoted from my friend that still rides up there "All the new guys are butt slow and scary to ride with, nobody really rides like we use to ride anymore, it's just me and my brother now"

BTW my shocks aren't bouncy like a pogo stick anymore

I'm looking forward to watching those videos sometime.

Next time we're up on nine I'll introduce you to one of the guys. I was actually talking to him on our last trip up nine.

I've got that Scaggs video of Mac getting airborne on the whoop-dee-doops towards the end. Someone needs video editing software to isolate the clip, I'm iffy on video skills and overworked these days.

Next time I see you, I will deliver the tape. Its being stored in an "undisclosed" location for safekeeping for the time being. I hope the footage lives up to the hype.
