Default battery tender

Was about to buy a battery tender jr in preparation for the winter/holiday season but I just found out they are banned for sale in california since 2013 because they waste too much electricity. Any suggestions on a good California legal brand to look into that is in the same price range? $20-30. Any experience with Schumacher 1.5a battery maintainer?

Car will be in the garage. Do you just close the garage over the cable and keep the solar panel outdoors? Would be interesting and have fewer extension cables running all over the garage

Home Depot sells a $20 battery maintainer. I almost bought one thinking it was a battery charger...

Do you know what brand it is and how safe it is? I read a few old posts on here where some off brand stuff left people with leaking batteries eating away at their paint.

C-TEK Multi US 3300

I swear by this charger. It's resuscitated 3 batteries of varying ages from the dead and it's super easy to use. I've convinced two of my friends (S2000 and Elise owners) to purchase it.

I have this one and it works just fine. It has a little bracket that slides under the battery to keep it in place in the car. When I get home, I just pop the hood and plug in an extension cord. No messing with alligator clips and fully self-contained.

I rock the battery tender plus from deltran for my hard parker. Lots of my friends have garage queens and all run it without issues.

Was going to buy one but they are not for sale in California anymore since 2013. We have stupid laws. Might just settle on one of the schumacher branded ones as they seem to have good reviews and no one here had anything negative to say so far.
