autox and track are two different driving experience.... autox is great for car control on short courses at low and high speeds with tight turns and slaloms, pushing the car to the limit and understanding oversteer and understeer characteristics of your car on quick transitions.
track is done on road courses at high speeds... it's more of controlling the car while going fast. great for learning car characteristics under heavy braking, apexing, etc...
both are good way to learn how to drive.... as for autox classes, SFR SCCA hosts an autox class once a year for $75 a day. you get a lot of seat time with instructors and lots of driving time. check out www.sfrscca.org, or just come out to autox events and pay $40. usually if it's your first time, there are lots of peeps that can help you/ride with you and show you ropes.
as for track classes, you can check out the NASA HPDE program, which you can go fpr a day of track driving for $149 (nasa member) and learn the limits of the car with your instructor.
both are great driving experience!!

SFR SCCA has autox school once a year.... but just showing up to every event and talking to the regular autoxers is also a good way of learning.
show up on sept 10th.
