Default Audio Installers with S2000 Experience?

Hello all --

I'm finally getting things together to do a sound system upgrade on my '03 'S', but I'm missing perhaps the most important part! Someone to do the install...

I'd consider DIY, but I've never done any installs and I'm concered about screwing something (everything?) up...

Here's the setup (probably...)

Head-unit: Alpine 9813 w/ Lucid DCI
Fronts: Kenwood KFC-P603 Component
Rears: Kenwood KFC-P503 Component -- These are going in my new S-Pods!
Amp: Blaupunkt 4100 (4x100) [ Under passenger seat ]

The question is... who should install it? I'm in Sunnyvale, so closer is better -- but I'll go quite a ways for a quality install.

Of course, suggestions/improvements on the setup are more than welcome. My primary requirements are:

Gotta keep the trunk space and gotta keep the spare...

Thanks much!

go to Car Stereo Outlet

3910 Steven's Creek Blvd.
San Jose, Ca 95129

ask for Tom, tell him Jason sent u.. he'll hook u up, we had a car audio day over there, they've done some of our installs, good job too.. very clean..

as for suggestions, i would probably have to say, go with better front speakers, i'm sure kenwoods r nice, but i'd say go with something a little better.. like alpine components, the rears r ok though, anything in the rear is better then nothing..

Excellent! Thanks a lot for the recommendation.. I'll give him a call this week. So... better fronts, huh... I've heard good things about the MB Quart Q Series, but not sure I wanna spend that much $$ on it.

I think tomorrow or Thursday will be a 'listen' to speakers day...

Met with Tom --

Nice guy, not pushy, gave great recommendations and helped put something together... here's what he recommended I go with:

HU: Alpine 9811
Amp: Alpine MRP-F240 (need to research this one)
Fronts: 6" Alpine Type-R
Rear: 5" Alpine Type-R in S-Pods

He talked about putting in dynamat, but I need to research if it really helps. I've used it on computer systems with 'minimal' effect... He also uses the SWI-X normally for the dash controller, but I think I'd like to get the Lucid DCI for the extra features -- have to order that soon!

Thanks again for the recommendation -- looks like it will be an excellent choice.

Oh, I listened to the MB Quarts as well... disappointing compared to the Alpines -- granted, it was the DSE series, but still....

In the past people would ask me for advice on a good stereo shop. No matter what shop I went to have work done there were always problems. Recently though things have changed. I took my s2k to Custom Exotica in Mountain View and had a totally custom JDM style nav screen installed. Let me just say the work came out flawless, it looks completely factory. I highly recommended Custom Exotica. The shop is huge and clean and extremely professional. They also get the job done on time when promised!

Hmm... let me check my notes:

Alpine 9811: $310
MRP-F240: $200
SPR-176A: $250 (Alpine Type R)
SPR-136A: $250 (Alpine Type R)
Wiring (Phoenix Gold): $65
SWI-X PAC: $60
Dynamat (Optional): $100 (Approx)
Install: $250

Total: $1485 (before tax)

I'm going to talk to Tom about putting in a Lucid DCI instead of the PAC unit. I want those extra controls!

And mucho thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I may drop by Custom Exotica and get a 2nd opinion, but SF is a bit outta the way.
