Attempted Bay Area Theft
#12
I have an '01 s2k and actually there was an another attempted theft in February, where my top was slashed and my convertible frame was bent, that gave me all the more reason to get the CF hardtop. I've had my ride since Jan. 02 and this is the 4th break-in plus I don't even live in SF. Make sure don't go cheap on the alarm with just a shock sensor --it's a waste of money without a proximity sensor, back-up battery and back-up siren.

I have an engine management console (Cobb Accessport) for my WRX that plugs right into my OBD II port. It was designed to flash "base-map" programs to the ECU as modifications are added. It also allows for changing between different "real-time" maps without having to flash the ECU, so I can switch to the real-time anti-theft map when I park in seedy areas and take the console with me. The ONLY way my car could be stolen is if the thieves had a spare ECU (not likely). It is really slick and costs less than you would spend on a good alarm system. I'm surprised that no aftermarket manufacturers have offered this for the S2000 with the high theft rate and all
