Default AP2 Tire size suggestions

So I finally need to replace my tires, and I was looking for some advice. I know the stocks are 245/215 for the stock AP2 wheels, and I've also heard that the actual measurements for the OEM tires are a little funky but that doesn't matter now. I have 245/215 Potenza Re01Rs on there now, but the tread is getting low.

The tire rack forum was mentioning running 255/225s on the stock wheels, but I couldn't find any reference to any downsides to running them.

Anyone running that size combo? And any recommendations for tire shops? I checked the shop directory here and saw the 3, but I was wondering if any of y'all had a preference.

Anyone have experience with the Potenza RE-11s? Any other recommendations in the pricerange/category? Cheers.

edit: I'm also running KW V3 coilovers, should that affect the answers.

The 225/255 would work with no problems on stock AP2 wheels. I used to run that set up but now i'm running the CR size (215/255). With the 225/255,you will get just a little less understeer and little more grip due to the larger contact patch. However, from my experience you lose steering feel, they are heavier, cost more, and bulge out depending on the tire.

I'm using the Dunlop Star Specs and I love them. From reviews, they are a hair under the dry performance of the Bridgestones but make up for it by being cheaper, lasting longer (30k+ so far), and, in my opinion, look better.

Just my $0.02.

Yup, they (rears) are just about to get to the wear bars. Mostly highway miles but I take it to the hills once a week. No donuts or hard launches and I check air pressure once a week. I already bought replacement rears which are sitting in my garage waiting. I figure I've got another 500+ miles in them.

Of course the new tires are Star Specs

I'm currently running the 255/225 set up. I can say that the front feels a bit less precise, but its really hard to describe any other difference.

30k from Star Specs means you are not driving fast enough. Speed up!
