s101 to Monterey..........Carmel is just south of Monterey Bay. Beach is at the foot of the main drag through town. Be prepared........parking is non existent.

1. take 101 S out of San Jose.
2. Go past Gilroy
3. Just before you come to Prunedale, you will see signs for Monterey Coast, US156.......take 156 to Monterey.
4. 156 will take you into Castroville........land of the artichokes.
5. 156 will meet with Hwy 1.
6. Hwy 1 will skirt the ocean and run eventually into Monterey. Stay on Hwy 1.
7. As you go past Monterey, you will see a sign for Carmel By the Sea.
8. Take the Ocean Ave. exit. This is the main drag that goes through the village and ends at the beach.

Have fun!

I emailed you a map.

Go the scenic route...faster too...south out of San Jose to Santa Cruz. In Santa Cruz, Hwy 1 south to Monterey. Once you pass Monterey you'll see signs for Carmel...(Carmel by the Sea)....the main street ends right at the beach...better to park and walk though the shops to the end of the street.
