Default Anyone here drive or own a 2009 WRX/STi Wagon?

Just being doing my HW on new/existing cars as I have not been in the market for a while.

I was reading on the Subaru site and it seems the STi (305hp) model is only available in a manual tranny?

Anyone here own or have driven either the regular WRX or the WRX STi model can give me some ownership experience?

Was shopping for a used S4 avant (tiptronic) or perhaps one of these wagons. Which one would you drive and why?

STI's are awesome, they are so much better built than the standard WRX.

Their transmissions are A LOT stronger than the 5-spd WRX trans and they come with an larger turbo.

Seems the WRX and STI share the same motor.

I am actually going to be purchasing a nice new 09 STI by June 2009. I'm going to trade in my Audi for it.

Nice feature about the new STI.... It has uphill assist so you don't roll back on an uphill slope when trying to engage 1st gear to start going

I was looking at getting one of these on used/lease return in 2 years. . . is the body roll as bad as the reviews have published? Anything to reign it in?

There is a lot of body roll on all the models, apparently that's how they designed it. Easily fixed with a set of sway bars if you don't like it. Most mods are affordable, and many are warranty friendly.

Sort of related: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1657451

I drove an old 2008 WRX, and the suspension was very sloppy compared to the older ones, and hideous compared to the S2K Most stock Subie tires (not the special ones you can now get) are not very good. Both of these are easy to replace with exactly what you want, for under an extra $2k aftermarket.

But is the STI body roll as bad as the WRX>? That picture only shows the WRX base model.

I would assume the STI would have larger sway bars

I think the STI is better, but not as stiff as I would like. That's only from watching videos, not personal experience.
