Default Anyone have a Inspiron 6000?

Well after some abuse my ac adapter went out, it was literally bent out and the wires are screwed up. So of course i got a new ac charger, but not a p10, i got a p12, its suppose to be compatible. I got the charger today and plugged it in my laptop and no charge!!! I plug my old charger in and the green light form the charger oddly goes out. So its either my charger or my battery i think. I was wondering if theres anyone near or is in oakland who has this laptop that can let me try their componenets to figure out what my problem is so i know what to buy.

Thanks,
Tony

My friend and his bro both had the same problem with their Inspiron 6000. They sent it in and Dell replace their motherboard and gave them a new battery.

I hate DELL!!!! I will never buy from them again! I called them and they said ONLY part of my motherboard is fried, the part which connects to the charger. The solution, replace motherboard. Price 4-500 !(@%*&*!. Yea right.

If anyone has a inspiron 6000 let me know please. I want to sell my laptop as is but all my needed info is still on my hardrive, plus i dont want the next person going through my stuff.

Thanks!
Tony

a lot of laptops, not just dells, will have power related failures after 2 years or so that require motherboard replacement. if you have the extended warranty, great, otherwise it's money.

if you get an external drive enclosure for you laptop drive you can pull the data off of it without needing another inspirion 6000

Many malls in the Bay Area have Dell kiosks...so you may want to take it there to test it out.
