does this help with torque at all
yes it helps with torque, it basically shifts your powerband. with 4.77's you can expect an increase of 15% torque along your entire powerband. with 4.57's its about 10%.

higher rpms doesnt necessarily mean lower mpg. your engine is working harder, but if you are light on the throttle load the injectors only pulse for fractions of a second to maintain your speed. if you aren't heavy on the gas really your mpg should stay the same. you'll use more fuel at lower rpm being heavy on the gas trying to accelerate than you would at higher rpm being light on the throttle maintaining a speed.

i've read a lot of posts about people who have gears and there are mixed reviews about the mileage. from what i gathered, people who don't have the gears are usually the ones saying it lowers mpg. the people who have the gears says their mileage wasnt affected much at all and its the misconception of mpg that keeps people away from purchasing gears. like i said though, you will be stepping on the gas more (cause it'll be too fun not to) once you get them most likely, so your mpg will go down. my mileage will really go to crap when my comptech kit arrives too

once i have mine installed i will definately know for sure about the mileage.... but i plan on stepping on the gas a lot so i'm not too concerned with my mileage, i know its going to go down

but, for commuting, if you drive your car normally, your mpg wont be noticeably affected. and besides, 4.77's are good for the freeway cause it kind of prevents you from speeding if you dont want to cruise at higher rpms. saves you tickets! well, thats how i rationalized it at least

4.57's are good

4.57's w/ my ct sc was freakin' awesome!

soon i should have my 4.77's installed and I already know that it will only get better. I'm sure I will be cruising at a lower speed on the freeway and like some have stated this will be a good thing because i'd be less likelly to get a ticket

i ordered my supercharger the same time as my gears.. how do you like your geared sc setup? i imagine your 1st gear is useless and 2nd gear is almost useless when WOT how do you like the setup as is now? i see you are upgrading to 4.77's.. im glad i got them as my first choice if thats how you feel from the 4.57s

if you were curious of how the gearing affects your speed you can check out :

http://www.turnzero.com/technical_resource...gear_calculator

they have a drop down for the S2K's, and you can modify your tire diameter and your final drive gear ratio and it will re-map it out ..

here's a quick writeup to see the diff.. (this is with my tire setup in rear 255/40/17.. tire diameter of about 25")

max MPH in 4.10's / 4.57's / 4.77's per gear for AP1

1st: 43 mph / 38 mph / 37 mph
2nd: 66 mph / 59 mph / 57 mph
3rd: 91 mph / 81 mph / 78 mph
4th: 116 mph / 104 mph / 100 mph
5th: 139 mph / 125 mph / 119 mph
6th: 166 mph / 149 mph / 143 mph

Again, this forum rocks.

You guys are quick to answer. This board kicks ass.

I'm not really concerned about lowering top speed as I'm more into acceleration as oppose to top speed.

The statement about people not having gears opinions vs. people who have gears opinions is probably the most true and correct. Hopefully those with 4.77's chime in.

I had mine on the reverse order. I installed my sc with the standard pulley. That was already fun then upgraded to the 7lb pulley and the extra 20-30whp made a significant difference. I then added the 4.57's to the rear end and at this point I was able to create instant wheelspin on first gear. The gears made acceleration very fast, I can't imagine it w/ the 4.77's. Now i'm running w/ just the 4.57's w/o the sc and it's still picks up.

I rode in a friends 4.77's and all I can say is Wow! The first 3 gears would be able to keep up w/ a sc'd 5lb pulley with ease. I will have my 4.77's installed next week.
