xTras??.....don't I wish. I just took a 4in. carriage bolt to the right rear and demolished one of mine. Courtesy of SB 680.

I would caution you against getting just one rear tire for your car. I ran over a rock and pinched the sidewall on one of my rear tires at 2500 miles, so I just bought another one and I could tell that they were not properly matched, even though it was the correct version of S-02. I didn't notice it on turns as much as when driving straight. On the transition between accelerating and decelerating, the car would pull a little bit to one side or the other. This behavior remained until I replaced them at 11,000 miles.
With four totally new tires, the car tracks perfectly straight no matter what I do (as long as I leave the steering wheel alone. ). If I ever wreck a tire such that it can't be patched, I'll be replacing both tires. Very expensive, but I won't compromise the handling again.

Hey, thanks for the info. I was thinking the exact thing when I was "shopping" for a replacement. The tech said that since I had less than 200mi on the other rear one, I had a pretty good chance that I would not have any probs. I havent recieved the new one yet since I just had this wonderful experience last week. I'll definately check out the handling.
Is the price range on these OEM's around 190? or are there better deals out there?

There were so many confusing and controversial posts about S02s, including horror stories about new S02s wearing out in 2000 miles versus stock S02s in 12000 miles that I've decided to avoid buying S02s.. S03 looks more like a tire for mud or heavy snow which is really not the kind of weather we see here most of the time and Kumho Victoracers looked like something reasonably priced and with apparently better traction than S02s.
Tread wear-wise Victoracers are rated 50 (S02s have a rating of 150). Do they really wear out three times as fast?
Does anyone have experience driving Victoracers on the street?
On tirerack.com they also had these really neat and functional looking tires (Kumho Ecsta V700), but apparently they are not out for sale yet..

my 2 cents...
I loved the S-02's except for the rain. So, I splurged and decided to do the S-03s. They're supposed to be great dry and good wet... I'm hoping for lots of rain, because they ain't to great dry, the slide a little...

My first set of S-02's (rear) lasted to around 12k miles. It started getting a little less sticky at about 10.5k, but with out pushing really hard, it did fine. (The compound seems to change t a harder rubber...less wear, but then less traction too) My current set is still going well at 7k+.
Good luck with the choice though. I personally really like the feel and confidence my S-02's give me now that I have learned the limits in wet and dry. But for new replacements, I think DavePK got a set of some other tires that he really likes, you may want to email him.
Oh yeah, that reminds me, you may want to replace all 4 corners if you are going to something with a different feel, otherwise the car may not handle as predictibly as it does now. Remember, Honda specially selected these tires for this car's handling quirks.
