i've never heard of any shops giving discounts on lo-jacks. most everywhere sells em for the same price. only thing you'll be able to get a disount on is installation.

and as for getting extra insurance coverage for mods, unless you've got a crazy hopped up motor &/or boom-boom system, i'd just stick w/your regular insurance coverage. S2000 OEM seats are like $5000++ retail, right? So, even if you don't have stock seats anymore & a bunch of other mod$, you should be able to claim your seats and offset the loss of at least $10k worth of mods. That should be more than enough for most every S2K on the road.

Doesn't work that way if the whole car is stolen. In that case all you get is KBB or Nada value and you are fucked for your mods. My suspension along cost $4k just to replace.

yeah, good point....i forgot about claims in which cars are complete losses/totaled by insurance.

i don't know about other insurance comp's, but AAA has always been real good about reimbursing for mods w/out charging extra for coverage on them. i guess their higher premium$ make up for that tho. their rates are higher than most every carrier out there.

AAA has always treated me well. They compensated me quite nicely for the mods on my del Sol when it was totaled - and I was able to actually take most of that stuff off and keep it as long as I replaced it with the stock parts.

lojack uses analog cell phone signals which penetrate most parking garages.

now if someone stuffs your car into a metal elevator then coverage might be lost, plus if someone takes your car to the middle of nowhere where there's no analog signal coverage then police won't be able to track your vehicle either

lojack is one of the more expensive vehicle tracking systems, there are more inexpensive alternatives, and just about everything has their pros and cons
