Anyone going to Infineon with NASA on Sep 25/26?

depends on how important you think fire protection is

M standard is for Motorcycle or motorized highway vehicles. M rated helmets are to be used for motorcycles, motorized highway vehicles and also for types of racing that do not require a fire retardant rating. (We recommend that you consult your sanctioning organization for specific helmet requirements.) M rated helmets also require a larger eyeport for a wider range of vision.
SA standard ("Special Application") is for helmets that meet the standards necessary to be used in competitive automotive sports and racing (including NHRA) and require a fire retardant rating for interior compartment components as well as the helmet shell, shield and chinstrap. SA helmets are also subjected to additional testing including a test which simulates a roll bar impact including penetration and impact tests.

Unless you are wearing a fire suit w/ shoes and gloves, it's kind of a mute point. Unless you just want your head to survive.

Nope. HPDE schools don't typically offer loaner helmets.
If you're just doing a hyperdrive, the loner may be a good option.
But for a full track day, you may want to consider buying one or borrowing a friend's helmet for the day.

I work on grid at NASA, and there is a (as in only 1) loner helmet available at this point.

Absolutely,
Hyperdrive is basically some classroom instruction and one 20 minute session.
A HPDE1 day would include instruction and usually include four 20 minute sessions.
Both have instuctors with you in the car.

NASA Norcal started this sometime early this season. Many people don't know about it, but the helmet does see a lot of use from passengers/etc. Either way, just a better idea to borrow one from a friend at least for the day!
