Anybody form the Bay Area going to Beijing for the Olympics?

When I read Olympics, I remembered this clip my friend showed me called the pain olympics - oh damn that was harsh.

I have a co-worker who is going, with his whole family. But they are from Shanghai and I think they have family in Beijing. He said he could not get tickets to the opening and closing ceremonies, and tickets for the Chinese dominated events (diving, ping-pong, badminton, gymnastics, ...) are very hard to get also. He thinks all tickets are RFID, so the "security personnel" know exactly where each person is located at all times.

i'll be in beijing at the time. family is still unsure about going to events though. we heard it was $500 per event!

I am going from Aug 5 -16 and will be going to 5 events (Gymnastics, wrestling, Weightlifting, Football/Soccer and Handball. I would love to get my hands on some opening ceremony tickets...
