to Beachbums2k: oh ok. i'm going to check out the eibach springs. =]

to ChViETnk: i used to own a Celica GTS with aftermarket springs lowered that thing almost to the ground, i could drive in SF no problem but i was been very careful and have to constantly watch out. but i don't want to mess up my s2k. hahahaha =]

hi guys
i've shopped around and found these ground-control springs for sale at a very reasonable price.

my question are:
1. my OEM shocks have 88k miles on them. will they be able to handle aftermarket springs? ( i heard aftermarket springs tend to wear out shocks faster, but never heard anyone had blown shocks with them. )

2. can they be easily installed just like regular aftermarket springs? how do the top hats work?

i did some research but couldn't find any update information. most of those are back in 2002.

thanks again guys. =]

(by the way, i never track the car, but do run the mountains sometimes.)

would say you need new shocks.
ground control top hat is just a piece of metal, that will going inside the spring and over the top, then the OEM hat will go on top of that ( base on my previous car) or if you like to get lower but still have more suspension travel then use the top hat that ground control sell which work for coilover only.
another thing is that i dont think you can use ground control for different set of shocks. so if you buy it for OEM shock then i think you stuck with it. maybe i am wrong but the ground control website does ask for specific shock that you buying the coilover for.

i see. thank you bud. the guy is selling his GC which is just made for OEM shocks. but if my shocks get blown eventually, that means i have to get OEM shocks again right?

maybe i should get a set of used OEM shocks and those GC right?

how many miles do the factory shocks blow usually? many one had experiences with it?

thanks =]

From what i understand then yes, it would be a pain anyway to use it will OEM shock i think. because you "might" need to cut the spring perches so that the collar from the ground control can sit on top of that. ( i haven not seen one on the s2000 OEM shock yet).

your shocks is worn out anyway why not get koni sport ? the spring perches on the koni sport can be adjust for 3 setting. the middle one is for stock height, the upper one will raise the car about .5 inch and the lowest one will lower the car about .5 inch ( if i got my information right)

I would vote for the swift + koni sport, if you will use the spring perches on the koni then the max drop on the front would be something like 1.2 inch and max drop on the rear would be like 1.5 inch.the koni has adjustable spring perches, so like what you state on the first post, it the best way to get a drop of 1.2 inch front and 1 inch rear ( close to what you want)

I have the espilir springs on koni shocks with the front perch lowered. I prolly have no gap all around maybe a finger in the rear. It's a beautiful drop
