but jason, where are the graphs and pivot tables? then your analysis will really be excellent.

i met the guy a few times since i used to lead after school sports for kids at the school his son went to. to me, he was always pretty respectful and didn't play up his celebrity to his advantage...he still came and picked up his kids when he had time and shot basketball with me a bit.

as for the controversy, i'd say drugs are drugs and shouldn't be part of any sport, no matter the player or reputation. i've always been a giants and bonds fan, but yeah, i think what he did is wrong if he consciously took these to improve performance.

It'll be his last season w/ the Giants and probably his career. I just want to sit in the "game" and see him hit the tieing and record breaking homerun. No matter what, I am still a fan of bonds. I spent $400 on 2 jerseys...how can I not root for him?

It seems clear that he did take performance enhancement drugs. But what is not clear is whether the drugs were responsible for his performances in the last few years. If you look at his AB/HR stats, you see that he was hovering around 10-14 before people said he started taking drugs. So it is possible for him to achieve 10 or 9 AT/HR on his own without the drugs.

And the other thing is that the steroids do not enhance your eye-sight, and they do not improve eye-hand coordination. So no matter how much muscles he gains from the steroids, there is no way it would improve his ability to hit the ball. Sure, once he hits the ball, the drugs may help to improve the distance that the ball goes, but drugs do not help his ability to hit the ball in the first place. I think Barry should be respected for his ability to hit the ball, period.
