I'm considering getting the J's final drive gears (4.44). If possible I'd like to take it to a place that has done a few of the J's gears switch-outs and the Yellow Box install. Could anyone who has had the gears installed please chime in with any recommendations (particularly in the South Bay)?

I doubt many shops other than dealers have done any rearends or any J's installs on S2000's. You might just try going to a shop that specializes in transmission or differential work there isnt too much special about a S2000 differential. OHHH an PM me when u have this done we'll plan a meet so you can give rides!

I'd be happy to give rides when it's done! I haven't decided when I'm going to pull the trigger on this one, but I plan on it and I'll post first impressions here.
