Default Any recommendations for smog check in South Bay?

My S2000 is coming up on its 4th year registration, and it needs a smog check.

In the past, smog checks cost about $20 + certificate. Now, all the cheap local service stations have stopped doing smog checks. The few places that still do it now charge $90 + certificate. So is there a place that charges significantly less? I know that it is only done every other year, but still, $100 for a smog check is expensive.

The reason smog checks are more expensive now is because our wonderful state has implemented Smog Check II. The new smog check procedure requires that the car be on a dyno during the smog check.

went to a great shop on San Carlos before I left for China. he had it all set up for Smog Check II. new business....can't remember the name now but it is on San Carlos between Meridian and leigh ave, east of See's Candy (across small residential street) sharing a building with another car repair place with lots of BMWs out front.
Nice vietnamese young guy owns the place and very service oriented and car oriented too. Will also run dyno's for enthusiasts upon prior appts. i will ask S2kWidow to see if she can find the biz card.

Vehicles that are less than 5 years old are exempt from a smog check. Does your registration notice require you to do a smog check?
