well.. my brother recently just purchae a Cayman S. Man.. it is a pretty sweet ride. Way different than the S big time. But then again, you can't really compare Japanese to Euro in my opinion.

heh, I should contribute to those, since I'm on S2000 #4, but I've had 3 M3s as well.
They are really different cars. The M3 was faster but less satisfying to hustle on a curvy road, it's bigger and feels like it's working harder, even though it's quite a bit faster. I felt like my 05 e46 M3 needed bigger brakes (stoptechs) and wider tires (265s all around).
I like the s2000 for it's simplicity and grace.
The Cayman S has a lot of the s2000's grace and effortless cornering, with more of the m3's power. I like it a lot. Just wish I fit.
That said, Wantone is right, a base model (read slow selling 997) leases for the same or less than a fully loaded cayman, and you don't have the low volume manufacturer first year foilbles. I would personally get the 997, it's a nicer/classier car even though it doesn't handle as well. (rear engine 911s are a treat in some ways, but for most people, they take some getting used to.)

Two completely different cars. I love my M3 cause it's a drivers car, and has some nice lux to it. I can also fit 4 people and have a decent space in the trunk. I believe the main factor between the two will be the space.
I would have gotten the Cayman S but I couldn't fit 4 people in it.
