I'm about due for some new tires and was wondering if anyone knows of any good tire shops in the south bay that has prices that comes close to tirerack prices. No, i don't want to order from tirerack since it would negate any savings once i get the tires mounted/balanced.

Auto Innovations in Milipitas. I got my 2 rear Khumo MX's for 260 out the door. So that's only like $60-80 for balance and fitment if I recall.

well i'm from milpitas, so thats close enough . do you have their number so i can get info on pricing for 4 tires. I assume its not safe to have unmatched front/rear tires of different brands correct (still have a lot of tread left on my front two tires)

Personally.. if your front two tires are nice tires, I wouldn't worry too much. I'm running pretty high-quality street tires in the front.. A brand called Wynstar, and in the rear, my MX's. ANd it handles just fine. So I don't know how "unsafe" it really is..
