If you buy the 9857 from an authorized dealer before June 30 you get a free iPod cable.
Free Alpine iPod cable...
I know it's only $30... but that is still a lap dance.

You can either put it under the seat, or fasten it up in the passenger roll hoop...
Yeah your first comment didn't make sense as first, I was thinking "why the h3ll would i want my iPod under my seat or in the passenger roll hoop?"
Anyway my co-worker turned me on to the 9856, which I decided to put in the 4Runner. My iPod is pretty much set up with Playlist by Artist or by Album, this saves me a bit of time searching. But searching by Artist or Album or song - forget it. I'll be spinning that wheel for days.
I've got nothing to compare this Alpine against - except the sound quality vs. an FM Modulator. I like my 9856, and I'm looking forward to my 9857 in the S2000.

Had my 9857 and Ipod in the ap2 for a few months now. It is a lot faster than the interface and much more convenient in terms of space. Also the Ipod fits perfect in the 05 center console velcro'd on top of a swivel pivot stand for a cell phone. The stand gives it a nice flushed look when the console slides open. Velcro for easy removal if you take your pod everywhere or adding songs to it.
Good choice on the setup best one Ive had thus far. Agree with Jsap1 though, never hooked up the DCI. Very easy install you should give it a try yourself.

i love this deck! it's very much like the 9855 except for the stupid slide button crap. i just put my ipod in the cargo net area on the passenger feet area. nothing too fancy. haha.
