When shifting, we must use our right hand to shift the stick, that leaves the left hand on the steering weel, and if resting on the inner "arm" of the steering wheel, that would mean at about 10 o'clock. My theory is that just as second is engaged, the right hand is still either on the shifter or in the air, on its way from the shifter back to the wheel. As second is engaged, especially in vtec range, this will jerk the car a little bit forward, which could easily be enough to cause the one hand on the left side of the wheel to move slighty... possibly to grab on to steady onesself. For someone who might not be used to racing with this car, and given the right conditions, a single hand on the left side of the steering wheel might cause the kind of instant jerk of the wheel when 2nd is engaged at almost full throttle, which could easily in turn suddenly move the car in one direction or another.
