Allergy and top down don't mix
As YU888 posted, the weather is great for driving this past weekend. I had to go up to Berkeley, so I took the car, went up 680, crossed over to 580 and on up to Berkeley. Came back down to the South Bay via 880. But after I got home, I was sneezing non-stop, my eyes were itchy, and my nose was running. It is hay fever time
I used to buy this allergy medication (over the counter) that worked fairly good but it does not make me drousy. But the medication was taken off the market because the FDA said it contained some ingredients that can cause other problems. So now, I am looking for a good over the counter allergy medicine that will not make me drousy. Does anyone have any recommendations? I hate allergy season.

If you put your top up, and bring in fresh air, you will be fine. Our cars have a pollen filter! No chemicals, non-drowsy, and still drive your S.

If you are looking for OTC allergy meds, Claritin in going to be your best bet. It's going to be a little pricey, but for meds that work this well without drowsiness I think it might be worth it.
If you go the prescription route, I have had great success with Allegra. You are supposed to take it twice daily, but I only take it once a day and have no problems at all.
I hope this helps you out. I would hate to see another S driving around this Spring with the top up!

QUERCITIN
A member of the flavonoid group found in fruits, vegetables, & tea, Quercitin inhibits the release of histamine & other inflammatory mediators. It decreases the inflammatory response in the mast cells of the nose & mouth & all mucous membranes.
Useful for:
Antiallergenic, antihistaminic, anti-asthmatic, anti-inflammatory properties.
Thus helpful in relieving the discomforts of allergic disorders.
May have some anti-viral activity.
Is a potent inhibitor of mast cell degranulation which is believed to be a major factor in the tissue destruction of rheumatoid arthritis & therefore may help with RA.
Varicose veins.
Capillary fragility & spontaneous bruising.
Thrombophlebitis.
Edema.
Raynaud's disease.

I get intermittant allergies and have used Claritin, Pirotin, and Allegra in the past. No matter what they say, I always feel like I am not on all 4 cylinders with claritin. The quercitin worked well for me. And it was $10 a bottle from the local organic shop with out a prescription.

i think the different allergy meds react very differently in everyone. claritin works wonders for me, but a few others i tried either did nothing, or still knocked me out and dried me out too. Depending upon the season and how serious my allergies are at any given time, I can sometimes get away with Sudafed. But i'll have to look into this QUERCITIN stuff. Seems to act as a natural antihistimine. Thanks for the tip Asura!
