Jesus, Joel and the whole family run and HELP a lot of scca events.... i agree that scca events/courses are limited due to location... even most of the scca national competitors think that local events are not up to par to national style courses so it's hard to practice on local grounds. most of AAS folks go to SCCA nationals and most of them are national champions.... so yeah 2 clubs, but still one family! you see a lot of scca folks at AAS and vice versa 
im going to AAS great america on saturday only, then oakland on sunday.

just like all events.. its noob friendly....
show up, pay, walk the course... and remember to WORK
before hand i would make sure to find out what class you are in that way you dont get all confused when you get there...
make sure your car is acceptable to race.. no leaks.... add some air to your tires....
other than that leave your EGO at home and just race...
dont be afraid to tell people your new and that you need guidance...
if the first person u ask cant really help dont be afraid to ask another person.. autox has the best people around and are always wiling to help...
and try not to drive like idiots when you come or leave... (this is for everyone, even myself) this is their first event at this place and its really hard to find decent sites to race on... so anyone's behavior will reflect on AAS and we dont want to make the AAS look bad cause they are real good people
