6.5" Door Speakers? Yea or Nay?
I have seen read of several people installing 6.5" component speakers in the S2000 doors but I do not know of people installing "two-ways" in the doors?
Does anybody know the max depth that a 6.5" can go without interfering? How about the max protrusion? I was looking into the JL Audio 6.5" Two-Way speakers.
Any info would be appreciated?
I recall somebody putting a JL amp and speakers into their S2K quite recently... was that Hwy9Gal?

I put in Sony XS-V1621's (three way) and I counldn't be happier. The sound improvement is incredible, and they fit perfect. Nothing to cut.
I did not upgrade anything else (i.e. no amp) and they are definitely still loud enough to get good sound at 80mph with the top down.
You can also get the XS-V1631's, which presumably have a better range, but they also draw more power, so you won't get as much volume out of them.

I installed the 1631's at the same time I replaced the head unit and added a changer. The basket in the door needed to be slightly modified, but otherwise no problem. See MacGyver's web page for details. The overall difference in sound quality is remarkable. The 1621's are reported to be a drop in replacement.
