I did this event in 2003 for E2-no sleep 'til Brooklyn
It was -40 with the windchill. My nuts turned to icecubes and didn't forgive me for two days. At like 2-4AM I lost sensation in my hands and feet and it took 30 mins in the car with the heater on full blast to warm back up.
In the end, the water pump went out with 3 hours in the race to go. We were in 1st place when it happened, but winning is winning and no one cares if you DNF for whatever excuse. Ultimately it is an endurance race of car, driver, teamwork and preparation.
And even with a 25 person crew, things can happen.
Never again for me, but thanks for sharing the pics.
