AAS isnt at Great America this year, nobody is because of the 49ers. Only club that runs at the O.co is SCCA. You have to have a membership to run with them, or you can pay for a weekend membership.
As for rain events, this event is the 3rd autocross in a row and its raining, I'd imagine there will not be a lot of people. I think the last event we had like this where a lot of rain was going to be present, there were 50 people that showed up. needless to say, you werent working for very long.

i'm thinking about switching from track days to autocross because it's hard for me to dedicate a whole day to tracking.
what's the typical autocross day schedule? what is the start and end time and how many runs do you get in?
thanks.

You'll either have to be there from around 7-8am till 1-2pm or 11am till 4-5pm roughly. This depends on when your class is running and is different every event.
Some places give you 3 runs while other places try and give you 5 runs. A run can be anywhere from 35 seconds to 70 seconds depending on venue and course layout.
It's not something that can take the place of tracking but it's still fun as well as being more pressure since you're limited in runs to get it right.
