2010 Auto X thread

yeah no aero next year at all in ST... but i think you can only put wing on a CR coz it comes with a wing (so you can change to an aftermarket)... but if youre not a CR then no... unless you do the update/backdate where you'd have to convert your non CR to a CR in order to qualify...

Thats going to be an intersting read in the rules as far as a wing on the CR's... If you can put something else on besides the stock wing, will that make the CR the car to have in STR?

If you can put on the CR wing, couldn't you argue that you should be able to put on the OEM (not CR) wing, since you "left the dealership" with it?
Also: When's the next Great america event, and where can I sign up? It's time for me to hit the autoX

Damn, I'll mark STR too then, I just read the rules.
"Can not modify brake system in any way, unless you're 100% Vietnamese and have a Vietnamese last name."

I fixed that for you.

I'm trying to read the classes but I think I'm a noob.
I'm running I/HFCat/E, Sumitomo OEM size tires, and skunk2 springs.
Which class would that put me in? I'm thinking class C?

You can run STR with the rest of us...
Also, really the only thing you have to worry about is making sure you are there on time. Starts running around 9am. STR works 1st run ground and runs 2nd. your going to want to get there soon enough to clean out your car, register and walk the course. Dont worry about getting your car teched, they will do that on grid.

Get there at 7-7:30AM.
You will sign a liability waiver form at the gate.
No instruction.
You pay $40 at the registration table.
You tell them/get assigned a number.
You tape the number to your car if you don't have premade numbers.
You walk the course well before the start so you get an idea of the course, memorize it, and get an idea of the levels of traction you might have and any bumps.
You need a helmet to run, they might have loaners available -- or if you want I can come out and let you borrow one, I'll probably come out for instruction for newbies and stuff, I don't feel like running.
When you line up in the grid (the order you run in your group), they will tech your car, they'll check to make sure there's nothing loose, and that your wheel bearings are tight.
After you run (or before depending on what group), you will work the field, meaning that you will stand in small groups of 2-4 situated in key zones on the field with a radio and a red flag. You'll be replacing knocked down cones and reporting the number of cones knocked down and which car to the station via radio.
