Ack... LinkSys.

Don't know what you've tried already, but I'll offer up some suggestions.

-Update firmware on router first.
-If you are using DSL, make sure you have the router set to use PPPoE with the right user/pass/domain.
-Make sure the LinkSys configuration on ur PC picks up all it's settings from the DHCP server on the router.
-Remove all WEP keys on the router and run on no security first.
-Make sure NAT is activated.

np. let me know how it turns out. in the end, id recommend using another company. even if you get the router to work right, linksys cards have poor support and unless your using Windows XP's built-in client manager, you're stuck with LinkSys's crappy software.

Yeah upgrade to XP. I can pretty much connect to any wireless access point. With or without encryption. D-link, linksys, cisco, netgear, smc, you name it.

I don't think it's the OS. I have a bunch of systems at home successfully using both Linksys and D-Link wireless routers and NICs. The systems use all sorts of OS's -Windows XP, Windows 2000, and two of them even run the dreaded Windows ME.

Have you guys already browsed to 192.168.1.1 and tried resetting the gateway and IP settings?

If all else fails, then maybe there's a hardware conflict? What kind of laptop is this?
