can we still pre-register on the spot or do we have to pre-register now?

Updating your database entry is all you can do in terms of pre-registering. You still have to pay on site, but if you have your database entry up to date, you just have to pay and get your barcode scanned. If you need to change your class or run group on site, you get to wait in a different, slower line.
If you are going to run a second set of runs or run out of class (wrong run group, which some folks call FUN), you can add a temporary FUN entry in the database and print out a barcode that can be scanned. But -- please don't run in the wrong run group unless you really have to. The run groups are carefully balanced so that we have just enough workers for all six run groups. When people don't follow the rotation, it gets unbalanced and some run groups end up short of workers. That causes delays and stress. The best excuse for running out of group is if you are paying for two entries and one of the entries is in your regular class.
