Default Spring 2022 Boston Mountains Tour

Dear Friends,

You are invited to join other S2000 owners and driving enthusiasts for the 30th semi-annual S2000 Boston Mountains Tour!!!

This tour will cover some of the best winding and scenic roads that the Arkansas Boston Mountains range of Central and Northwest Arkansas has to offer, with roads that challenge even the most experienced drivers!

On Saturday, April 2nd, all drivers will be given a tour packet that will have your specific route information with turn-by-turn directions, and lunch and dinner maps. The Boston Mountains Tour is one of the best environments for you to fully enjoy what your S2000 was made to do - TURN!

The BMT is a great social event and you will have the opportunity to meet great people from across multiple states. We look forward to seeing you there!

When:
Saturday, April 2nd, 2022

Time:
Participant Gathering starts at 7:30 a.m.
Mandatory Drivers Meeting: 8:15 a.m.
Tour Starts: 8:45 a.m.

Where:
Heber Springs, AR

Hotel Booking Information:
Will be provided upon your successful registration

Itinerary:
  • Friday Night, April 1st
    • Please be sure to fuel up before morning as there will not be time then.
    • Social - 6 p.m. - Hotel
  • Saturday Morning, April 2nd
    • Packet Pickup - 7:30 a.m. - 8:15 a.m.
    • Drivers Meeting - 8:15 a.m.
      • Please be sure to eat breakfast BEFORE you get to the meeting. The hotel will be serving food for us.
      • All groups will leave shortly after the meeting, so make your way to your cars and start warming them up.
    • BMT BEGINS!!! - 8:45am - First group leaves the parking lot with each subsequent group leaving every 10 minutes thereafter.
      • Your Tour Guide will lead you, turn by turn, though the beautiful Boston Mountains on a route bespoke for this event. They will stop at each intersection road and wait for the rest of their group to be present before moving on. This way nobody has to be concerned about getting left behind or losing their way. You will eventually come to a rest stop for lunch. Please park with your group for lunch in order to ensure an easy departure. After lunch your Tour Guide will lead you back to the host hotel.
  • Saturday Evening
    • Group Dinner 6pm-9pm - Hotel
  • Sunday, April 3rd - Check out and have a safe trip home!
This tour is limited to 50 cars and these spots fill up fast, so secure your spot ASAP!

Reminders will be given periodically as we get closer to the event to inspect the following:
  • Car (registration)
  • Tires (including spare)
  • Alignment
  • Brakes
  • Fluids
Extra items that are good to have on you:
  • 2 way radio, see notes below
  • Paper map (usually available at the beginning of the tour) since a lot of the areas we drive through don't have very good cell reception
  • Fire extinguisher (small)
  • Small tool kit
Other requirements to participate are as follows:
  • You must be 18 years of age or older
  • You must have a valid driver's license
  • Your car must have current registration
  • You must have a valid proof of insurance
  • Your tires must have at least 3/32" of tread on them at their lowest point
It is a good idea to have a 2-way radio with you. Although not a requirement, it will help your group leaders to communicate with you about upcoming road conditions, turns, or any other information that may be important for the group to know. It also provides the ability for people in the group to communicate with their Tour Guide or other members of the group as needed. In general, they are just a helpful tool to have in the car with you.
There are several participants that have taken a liking to this radio from Baofeng.

After your register, you will receive an email. You will need to follow instructions in that email to finish confirmation of your registration.
This thread will be open for discussion, but registration will only be handled through the link provided, and all contact about your registration will be handled directly with you via email. If you have registered and don't see your name on the list above it is because either 1.) We haven't updated the list yet, or 2.) Your registration isn't complete yet. Make sure you follow the instructions in the emails.

Again, this tour is limited to 50 cars and these spots fill up fast, so secure your spot ASAP!

Once we reach 50 completed registrations, any additional registrations will be placed on the waitlist. If a spot opens up we will email you immediately to see if you are still interested in participating. You will then have 24 hours to respond. It would be best to save s2kbmt@gmail.com as a contact in your email so you don't miss any incoming information from us.

We will not be making ANY changes to the list after March 27th at 11:59pm, so you'll want to make sure your registration is handled before that time.

Information subject to change.
The BMT is funded solely by the Organizers and Donations. To continue to keep the BMT admission free, please feel free to DONATE!! PayPal accepted: bmtapparel@gmail.com

:: IMPORTANT :: IMPORTANT :: IMPORTANT ::
Please note, the registration emails are not automated. Samantha will work on registration on Wednesdays and Sundays until we are closer to the event. Be sure to follow all ACTION ITEMS in the emails you receive.

Who's driving to the event from DFW? For those of you who are, any interest in caravaning to Heber Springs? I live in NE Tarrant County, but could meet up just about anywhere in the Metroplex along the way.

My navigator for the April 2 Spring 2022 Boston Mountains Tour had to drop out.
I will be driving my 9-speed 2015 M-Benz ML 63 AMG with 574 hp 5.5 L V-8 that does 0-60 in 3.1 sec. If any of you BMTers will be bringing a passenger who would be able ride with me for part or all of the BMT, I am staying at the Red Apple Inn this Friday night. I usually ask my passenger (during a BMT) to take care of the 2-way radio duties, navigate, and help watch out for deer and any road hazards. If my rider is also an SCCA race track experienced driver or equivalent racer, we can take turns driving my white super car in the BMT.
My race history? In 1963, I won the SCCA South-West Divisional Championship "A" Production Class driving my 1963 Competition Stingray Corvette.

I've posted this on Facebook as well in order to help cast a broader net.

Photos are up, I must warn you though, I put minimal time and effort into editing this set so don't set your expectations too high.
