I really want to try stiffer rear springs 800f/650r currently but having to do alignments in a garage is not something i like.
Will you be installing the new shocks and Giken at the same time as the control arms or doing it separately to get a controlled change of feel?

I think it is logical to have a setup that generally maximizes rear traction as much as possible, so the idea of softer springs int he rear makes sense, but like anything there are always compromises. In this case the turn in may be compromised compared to corner exit traction. To me it is all about finding the best balance of compromises for my particular driving style. I tend to setup my car based on having the most fun in the car though, not purely for lap time. I love diving into corners as late and as quickly as possible and getting back to full throttle as soon as possible. So a car that can still turn in well under braking works better.

If anything I am excited for these dampers because if I want I can stiffen the rear springs even further without any damper issues. Trying to get the car setup to turn in as aggressively as I am comfortable with. At some point corner exit traction will be compromised, but the OS Giken should work nicely to balance that out as well. Every single time I have done something I though might make the car a little to biased towards oversteer it has just ended up making the car even more neutral and within a larger range.

I was planning on doing the Ohlins and Ikeya upper arms at the same time since both with require alignments. I do sort of want to try out just the upper arms by themselves, but I think the change of the arms will be so minor in terms of driving feel not sure if it is worth separating it out? I have been thinking about adding Spoon rigid steering rack bushings, and J's tie rod ends, so maybe I should do that and the arms at the same time? And then do the Ohlins after that? Sort of debating doing steering rack spacers as well, but it seems like adjustable tie rod ends would be more than enough to control bump steer up front. Tie rod ends also seem like a good way to help dial in the steering feel a bit more.

OS Giken will definitely all be after. Have another AP2 diff being rebuilt and cryo treated and all that along with the OS Giken install, and most likely an increased capacity diff cover.

OS Giken 1.5way. Having an AP2 diff freshly rebuilt and upgraded slightly by the puddy mod guys, and will likely be doing an increased capacity diff cover as well.

Very nice, any particular reason for going 1.5?? I know you'll go into depth on this later but I still figured I would ask. Oh yeah, get the bumper on right now, a teaser will do.

I just registered to say thanks for putting this thread together. I happened upon it while looking for yoututbe reviews on the Ohlins DFVs. Found your togue video when you first had them on, which googling your Youtube handle brought me to this thread. Then it took me 2 weeks to read through this thread. Appreciate the time and methods you have used to achieve what is important to you. I have been lurking on s2ki for nearly 3 years, and finally last year I made the goal of saving for an AP2. I like to buy my cars cash. I just hit my goal, which should put me into low mileage 06 to high mileage 08 prices. Just waiting for the perfect one to pop up for sale. Again thanks for the thread and I look forward to becoming part of the community, hopefully soon.

I too would like to know the reason for going 1.5 as well. I thought the most common reason for upgrading the diff was for FI cars.
