I got most of my chips from highway driving... so I try not to do that as much.
I try not to drive behind anyone.
Other than that, I frequently touch up my stone chips every few days.

My painter said he put on extra clear coats this time around to give it some extra protection.

Yeah I thought about that too... but to wrap an aftermarket bumper, any quality stoneguard would've been quite expensive
plus if they had to use multiple pieces to fit all the curves in the bumper, it would've drove me nuts seeing all the seams...

Are you considering side skirts of some kind? Need something to tie togehter the low hanging Voltex diffuser and spoon bumper
