since scca solo is one of the two sanctioned racing events we have on oahu (other is rallycross), it's safer to push my limits as a driver (a definite novice).
personally, i knew i would be one of the slower drivers since it was my 1st race. i had an instructor for the 1st and 2nd runs (which helped alot) then went alone 3rd and 4th. improving on every run was my goal and actualy best time was in the 3rd.
i made a huge mistake in the 4th by looking at the clock... i was on pace to beat my 3rd run but came in too hot on the 2nd to last turn lesson learned!
big ups to satoman44 for answering all my noob questions and walking the course with me. it really helped. everyone was very positive and helpful with my 1st race and i plan on doing this for many years to come (if the wifey keeps signing off )
i am also very lucky to be friends with a few of long standing scca members, a chief and the chair... who were very positive and happy to see me race my03.
btw for my peace of mind, i clear bra'd the whole front bumper and other areas of the car (thx nichigo for the advice) so i wouldn't get too scared about destroying my body or paint by eating cones

good stuff
yeah I've always loved the autox crowd, unlike drag racing, everyone is friendly/willing to help
you know what they say, slow is smooth, smooth is fast sometimes the lap you feel like you're going the slowest turns up the best times
I'm looking forward to getting out to one soon myself, I've only had a chance to autox fwd cars, so it's going to be fun/a learning experience for myself also
