Just out of curiousity, would you watch more NASCAR/Champ Car/IRL racing events if the track were made to look like, say, Suzuka? I think I would.

IRL and NASCAR are basically oval track leagues. Cart has decided to become basically a street circuit league.

Oval tracks are great for the fans at the race, because they can watch the whole thing. Street circuits are convenient for the organizers because they don't require year-round dedicated real estate.

But road courses are the best looking, most traditional, and most "pure" types of race tracks. No one seriously disputes this. But that doesn't mean they make for the most entertaining or profitible racing....

Interesting question. Turns might make it more interesting. Unfortunately, (or fortunately, depending on your point of view) the design of the cars would have to radically change.

Watching NASCAR and drinking beer out of the can are synonimous. Adding turns simply means you're drinking the same beer out of a glass.

Once you've tasted the champaign taste of F1, the flat beer taste of NASCAR just can't be improved upon enough to cut it.

F1 has had some inreresting races lately, but I've always been a huge CART/Champcar fan. I am not a fan of the IRL because in principal they have destroyed American open wheel racing. Anything with HASCAR in the name gets in my Tivo menu
