oh yeh, forgot about da matta from Champ Car who couldn't cut it either.
i think JV was successful because he came with the "European Racing" background and mentality which the Europeans did not alienate him with. But as soon as he started to shoot his mouth off publically, see ya later career.
drivers coming from the U.S. dont' stand a chance anymore in F1 as F1 has become a "European snobbery form of racing" which really plays into the hands of European born , bred and racing and ensures no one is outspoken in nature. F1 Robots is what they want..

Didn't Bourdais have a stab at F1 already?

European background? JV came up from mainly the CART Toyota Atlantics + CART Indycar. He did participate in F3 races in Canada, Japan and Italy in 1992. JV's advantage was having plenty of seat time before doing his first race in F1, having a good car and a good team mate (Damon Hill).
But Alex Zanardi came from F1 and Bourdais is from France (how much more European can you get?) won the F3000 champions and had a contract with Arrows until they were sold. JPM came from F3000 as well and was a test driver from Williams before going stateside.

F1 and those in the upper echelon of F1 circles, will consider Bourdeais just like the rest of the american driver failures. He will come, and simply end up at the back of the grid. I think he is HUGE waste of time and money.
Also, I don't think he's mentally prepared for an F1 team, driver and overall politics of F1. A tussle with Tracy here and there, don't equate to anything to what he'll experience across the pond. And oh, when the press start on him, he's done. Like what happened to swerve and even JV.
I give Bourdeais, 2 maybe 3 seasons, before begging for a testing role like McNish and Salo did. Or he may rise to the Jarno Trulli, Fisichella or Weber level.
He'll become an old man, passed and gone very shortly. The F1 ship has sailed for him unfortunately.. I guess he justs wants to say "he drove an F1 car.."
