The only F1 cars that I have seen flip in recent memory were all at fairly low speed (low speed to what they are capable of going) diving into breaking zones on the opening laps. I recall Kimi R and Jensen Button flipping over a few seasons ago.

Yeah man I remember that. Totally insane. They parked all the Mercs after that.

My point was that IRL cars are prone to flipping due to the aerodynamics specifications/rules...

And it happened again to Dario this weekend.

Sure it's happened in other motorsport series but no where as many times as the IRL since the series began in 1996.

Have you been reading the responses here? No duh it happens to IRL more than any other series -- they run more oval tracks than any other formula car series. For about a decade it was an oval-only series.

If the other series ran oval tracks, they would also start logging more frequent flyer miles.

1 + 2 = 3

{#3}As I have always said, running in circles inside concrete walls is just plain stupid, and a lousy form of racing...

I heard that on Speed News last night, I was in shock because they showed both clips from his flips. I'll say this, those IRL cars sure seem to be well made, walking away twice from those wrecks is impressive.

Agreed. I understand why it happens (duh)... that doesn't make it 'ok' though.

Apparently Dario didn't think the race was over and shifted into overdrive, plowing into another car. How can one not know the race is over?

Wow, that's sad, did not know the race was over. Seems to me that team has some serious communication problems between the pits and the driver
