It's a shame that both Honda and Toyota withdrew from F1. Toyota was so close to a win at times and they threw it away because of strategy. I agree with some of the things that Yamashima said. I think endurance racing is where Toyota should be. It fits better with Toyota's "image" of reliability and quality. Too bad Honda already is passing them with HPD/Acura going to Le Mans this year.
plus, i think its safe to say that while other car manufacturers do their R&D in racing circuits, it seems like toyota has taken a whole different approach and come out with a whole different animal: the LF-A.

Honda needs to be at Le Mans and stay in the ALMS and endurance racing
They also need to bring the HSV-010 to the streets.

The fact that honda has to run the HSVs in JGTC is embarassing. A concept car while everyone runs off a production car.
F1 is totally removed from reality. Toyota said they were going to stick to more accessible events. If they spent 1/2 their F1 budget on ALMS, Le Mans, touring car, grassroots racing, etc - 100x the impact and prob much more positive press vs. what they get running mid-pack in F1.

Taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture, believe Toyota's comments are pretty close to the mark. Which is a very unfortunate reality. Miss 'em or hate 'em a manufacturer's departure from the sport is not a positive thing.

Formula 1 really has gotten a little dopey, I've said it before but this common ECU, limited testing, and no refueling is just dumb. I do like the common tires though, that brings the racing to the driver, engine and chassis. There needs to be more variety in the cars, right now if you took the paint off the cars, I bet 99.99% of the fans out there couldn't tell them apart, probably most of the broadcasters either. They might as well be racing Miatas at times.
I'd like to see engine/fuel configuration options like diesel or turbos. The KERS was almost interesting, but the penalty for using it was too great.
