Lets say the car is running in the rain. Water is going to come into that channel, it is going to be extremely disturbed in the wind forces and will pop up out of the nose's top, right in front of the driver's eyes. Would this not become almost like a rooster tail in the driver's line of sight?

i dont think you'll have too much water going up there in the rain. it isnt like a tire that flings water up. there is nothing in the front of the opening that will be forcing water through it. if you're behind another car, i doubt it will make the situation any worse.

cool site. too bad i dont speak italian. if you scroll through the videos there are more on F1 cars....Renault's nose and new shark fin, Mclaren aero, BMW nose etc.

like after it rains, w/ the air being humid u can run less angle on the wing for the same amount of down force that a more inclined angel would achieve.
