His dad owns Circuit Mont Tremblant. Supposedly they'd shut down the track for an hour arbitrarily so Lance could go for a few laps. If he has the driving chops I think the money will take a back seat. Let's see how he does.

Yeah, I think the buck stops here (in F1). Either he has it or doesn't. It will show either way. His teammate will be driving the same car, so it won't be difficult to evaluate his abilities.

There was a past champion (does anyone remember who it was?) that said something like: 'right now there are 10 guys in [insert country here, e.g. India] that have potential to be faster than I." If he has the chops, then he's lucky to have gotten the opportunity.
