MARRIAGE WRECKER, EXCLUSIVE F1 misery is driving couples apart
By Byron Young, Sunday Mirror
JENSON BUTTON and David Coulthard's bosses have slammed Grand Prix racing as a marriage wrecker. BAR supremo Nick Fry and Red Bull Racing head Christian Horner have united in slating the sport's gruelling 19-race calendar. And they have been joined by influential McLaren founder Ron Dennis in warning that the longest championship in history is ruining relationships and destroying the sport.
In the last two decades F1 has expanded from an intense 15-race season to a pressure-cooker 19 Grands Prix in increasingly far-flung destinations. Even the millionaire drivers with luxury life-styles, personal masseurs, and homes dotted around the globe have admitted to feeling the strain. And F1 is suffering a brain drain as dozens of key engineers, mechanics and designers have turned their backs on

I can understand where they're coming from though. It must be difficult for the engineer's to work this schedule and hardly see their families. The drivers on the other hand, screw 'em, they're young and I'm sure LOVING their jetsetting lifestyle.

I just know I don't want the season to be shortened to fewer races...

for budget or marketing reasons some teams may not need to attend all races. this was the case for gran prix teams many years ago in the 50s and 60s. i think this may happen again as a way to keep costs down.
