What's the best price that you know of that someone has haggled one down to? Using past sales is the best ammo when haggling.
Its always risky buying a motor that is already out. If its still in then it can be run and tested no?

Trouble with buying a short block is you'll be putting a XXX,000Km head on it.
My recommendation is see if Chris will sell you a reconditioned long block. That way you know you are getting a good whole engine.
