Just wondering who here has been to the drag-strip and what time/trap-speed have you managed? The 1/4mile runs seem very popular in the States.

Hi, I took my S2000 to Eastern Creek and ran a 14.2 @97 miles per hour. One problem I found was that I could not get it to spin off the line. I was always bogging off the line. I also did a 60ft time of 2.020 which isn't too bad, but I would have prefered it to have spun a little.

I have also Gtech it and ran a 13.7 @ 102miles.

By the way I did launch the car at 5000rpm and at 8000rpm. but it still would not turn the wheels off the line. On the street if I launch it at 5000rpm it spins like hell

My best time done was 13.57 @ 106mph, took off at 5500rpm and balance the throttle instead of clutch.

DC2SpecR, how did you get your type-R so quick? 13.57 @ 106mph means that you did 0-170kph (106mph) in 13.57!! S2000 on a good day does 0-160kph in just under 14secs. Your type-R seems to be about as quick as a previous model M3 (or the current M-Roadster).

Your Type-R is like 1.5sec quicker over the 400m then a stock Type-R. Or looking at it differently, in the time a 'stock' Type-R reaches 150kph, yours will reach 170kph ... those are huge gains; so what's involved in making it that quick?

Power wise, i only have basic intake, header, exhaut, hi-flow cat, cam sproket and PowerFC ECU.
I had a very good speed at 1/4 coz i took off with some wheel spin.

It does not matter how well you launch, doing 0-170kph in under 13.6secs is incredible. Like I said, M-Roadster territory. A 300kW HSV GTS cannot do 0-170kph much better then that ...maybe a few kph quicker, but not much.

As I said before, there's no way that an S2000 can do 0-170kph in anything close to that time no matter how well it's launched. S2000 on a very good day will have a hard time doing 0-160kph in 13.6secs, lert alone another 10kph extra.

Your Type-R seems incredibly quick ... have you had it alongside something like an S2000 (or WRX) yet? I mean a "rolling start" as that shows clearly who has more 'pull', and how much more.

ITR's wern't really a straight line car. More of cornering speed. Anyways...

When I was with DC2specR.... I was driving his car on the freeway and he was in a 1992 Honda NSX. We both rolled in gear, 2nd I believe and I kept pulling away from him . We got up to about 4th gear and stopped. If we kept on going, the NSX would probably catch up and pass me cause the 92` NSX has very long gear ratios. More suited for autobanhs. I was personally amazed on what an aftermarket ECU can do in the right hands! I just like to see how the car would go with the camshafts! =)

Jacob's ITR does seem very fast indeed. Not long ago I remember the first car I ever saw road tested to achieve greater than 100mph at the end of the 400m. It was a Lotus Esprit Turbo, and I remember thinking what an exotic, outrageous, unbelieveably fast machine it was. It had this backbone chassis, mid engine, and stupendous acceleration and just seemed like something out of fantasy land. Now here we have a NA 1.8L that is clearly faster. It's just ridiculous!

In the states, some guy does a B18C (Type-R) engine conversion into the Lotus Elise! I would really love to see that setup! 200ps in a 700kg shell!? lol
