Default What's your run-about daily drive?

So I'm stuck with a rental until my car's touch up is finished, and I'm driving a Hyundai i30. To be fair, it's a decent enough car to get about it, but I wouldn't buy it, and I certainly don't enjoy it. It's got such a fat ass and the turning circle of a bus.

I've driven a few hatches in my time at the cheap end, and I really enjoyed the Swift (owned), it was zippy, could take a belting and always wanted more. Nothing quite like drifting it around a corner too haha. The Mazda 2 (ex gf) is pretty good as well, it's easy to drive, pretty comfortable and very easy to park. Ford Fiesta Zetec (bleh, old housemate) was decent enough, very easy to drive, easy to park, very uncomfortable and broke down every other day.

The Mazda 3 isn't a hatch, but it's still a good car to drive although chunky and not the easiest to park. Cruze is in the same boat as well the old 2005 Astra, but I'd still go the Mazda 3 before either.

I'll be looking at a daily drive sometime in the next 6 months and I'd like to know what others are driving. I'd want to avoid another sports/coupe just for the same of having something fuel efficient and easy to drive.

I just drive an my04 Honda Jazz vti (apparently it was the last model to be made in japan xD). IMO it's a very reliable car and it's quite practical with the magic seats I've never had any major issues with it other than the battery that died and a flat tyre, botgh of which served the car over 8 years.

My mate had a nissan pulsar something-a-rather years ago, thrased it beyond belief, great car and got great coin for it considering it was trashed.

my daily:
vb commodore.

dream daily (manual):
either a jazz or a mazda 3. i read up on one of the jazz's, the fuel economy is meant to be ridiculous. i think it's a lower end one, and aparently 700+ k's to a tank.
always wanted a mazda 3 as a daily, then my mate got one. ridiculously fun car. *felt* faster than my dc2r or s2k. seriously cannot praise this car enough.

stay away from:
any low end small-engine auto holden or ford. owned a ford laser, wanted to get out and take a sledge hammer to it after every drive. slow-ass pos AND it was hoooooorible on fuel.
any low end auto bmw (318 e36 specifically). similar to the ford laser, + the added bonus of lovely maintenance costs.

My daily is an evo 9 and it's actually more fuel efficient than the s2000. I found that a bit weird.

that car just needs a clean up, get rid of the queer rims, exhaust, tacho, seat covers, stickers and monitors.

if u want something fuel efficient then i suggest golf TDI, corolla sportivo or crx del sol.

if u want something faster then lancer cc GSR.

if u want something that u can park anywhere and not give a shit and don't mind people avoiding u because u drive a shitbox,
then magna hands down.
