Barefoot is the way to go..... Or my puma`s.....
I "think" barefoot is illegal because if your feet are wet they can slide off the pedals a lot easier. Or maybe just an old urban myth..... Mythbusters?????????

Which shorts do you prefer driving in Aus? haha jk
The pumas are seriously decent though...if you wait around you can get them from the Hype store in Manly for $80 or so!!! Otherwise I think they retail for about $140

i don't really like bare-foot driving, but i don't like a thick, or heavy shoe, or sole, so i prefer casual sport shoes - well more walking shoes;
i find sport shoes are light, but still have thick soles;
boots are just plain heavy with thick soles;
thongs have got me in a few jams because they easily get stuck between the pedals;
and formal shoes (which offer thin soles, but usually leather bound) are typically quite fitted without the versitility that canvas, or sport shoes material offers.
In particular, i'm usually driving with either Converse All-Stars, or Onisuka Tigers, because they're light, thin soled, durable, don't leave scuff marks when i have to crawl out of the seat, and flexible.
