He died on impact ... it was at over 200 into a concrete barrier, which had another concrete barrier 1m behind it... he went thru the first one and I think the 2nd stopped the car. It was a very very bad crash. I know I would not drag race on a straight that had a concrete wall at the end of it...
I guess that's what the case is about? Dont drag strips usually have a smooth (enough) turn at the end of it?

I think in this case they were actually running the drag strip in the reverse direction (ie say normally it is run from east to west, they were running it from west to east, if that makes sense ), therefore the overrun was significantly shorter...
I remember seeing pictures of this particular car, one of which being a close-up of the wheels. From what I could see it looked seriously under-braked...

that event was called terminal velocity and the run was indeed reversed for that event. he didn't die on impact or the burns from the fire, he actually survived for a few hours. anyway there was a court case against the organisers who were found to be negligent but thats as far as i know.

According to one of the web sites he was artificially maintained until they reached hospital where he was pronounced dead. Terminal Velocity is rather appropriate, if not in good taste.
Any one got the video?

yeah the concept of that event was to go full out as hard as you could but it doesn't a genius to figure out that your in deep crap when something wrong happens. oh they figured out that apparently his brakes failed which meant he wasn't able to stop adequately. the judge had won the top dyno runs at the summernats for a few years running and it was producing like 700+ which is crazy stuff.
