ok, im thinking either cashout has gotten a gig with mary kay and is going to be driving one of them pink ones, or has finally come out, which further reinforces his new job with mary kay.

I used to have a 73 beatle with a 911 motor in it. before i put the 911 motor in it had a pobjoy 2litre motor. both were good on the track but with the 911 i could pop little wheelies. fully sick.
Was your car nicknamed Herby. Wasn't the recent Herby movie cool ( in a Disney story kinda way).

Gee. The little beetle sure has to carry around a lot of emotional baggage with that bodystyle.

Think of it as a Mk4 golf and things become easier.

Go for the turbo version (less flower, more power). Put something masculine in the in-built dash vase.

Think about the up-coming model that will be based on the MkV Golf (or ask them about a MkV GTi instead).

p.s. C&D had a cartoon showing an early and late model Bettle welded together in the middle. Front and rear engine, 4 litres, 8 cylinders and 4WD.

Second: I saw in some of the old posts that a Beetle RS was faster than Drew Russel's S2000 at Winton. Maybe it had more work done on it maybe not.

Wasn't that Beatle in the GTP class? I thinhk that's what they had there before they brought the Golf R32. If I remember correclty then it was a full on race car and had very little in common with the road car. A lot less weight, a lot more power, and whole lot of chasis stiffening stuff just to name a few things. If I remember correctly it was racing with the modifued EVO, STI and HSVs.

Though, I can't remember seeing any Beetles on the track, and neither about any in the PCOTY/BFYB tests so can;t help you with how they perform there.

Well, I spent the rest of the afternoon (after that very, very , very , very short cruise) going round the VW dealerships and trying to get an appraisal for the smart. No real luck on either count.

1. VW is in the middle of a 'model realignment' for the Beetle so none of the dealerships I visited had any. They are trimming the offerings to only two models and discontinuing the Turbo (one of the salesmen reckons they sold 3 in the last six months). The 2.0 is now only available in the convertible.... The next lot of cars will come in 4-6 weeks..
2. Got someone to appraise the smart but will only be given an offer tomorrow....

So, If I want the turbo it will have to be used.....
