V-Power Race!
Ute was almost empty today so I had to fill up. Wasn't looking forward to it on crutches.
Went to Shell and there are guys all over the forecourt providing service. It is all a part of the launch of V-Power and V-Power Race.
V-Power is the new Optimax with friction modifiers (stuffed if I know why). It's 98 octane.
V-Power Race is only sold at select petrol stations and is the 100 octane 5% Ethanol fuel they trialed for a while.
I asked why they changed the name an apparently that is what it is called in the US so we just follow suit.
Anyway I filled up the ute with normal unleaded and headed off feeling very fortunate for my luck in finding driveway service in the 21st century.

can we run ethanol fuel in our cars?
i read somewhere that only the +04 models can use up to 10% ethanol based fuels
i dont like the shell fuel
my mate started using it in his rexy
2 weeks later the top end of his motor needed rebuilding
..........coincidence maybe

Evan, you're correct that the 04 onwards is 'certified' for ethanol. That is not the same as able to run. I've run E5 in my car without issue.
BTW, you mate with his rexxy, doubt it had anything to do with fuel. You know rexxys don't have 'top' ends, and if they do, they have two. Boxer engine.

then it was roughly a $15000 warranty job
and yes they fixed it after about 6 months, took them AGES to get the pressures with the turbo correct
