I have S03s on and granted they don't have the grip levels of the S02s in the dry, I find them more than enough for street use and more progressive at the limit. The wet weather grip is also significantly better. They also last a heck of a lot longer as well. A good everyday road tyre that's a good compromise between performance and everyday practicality. I'm also running 225 at the back (the footprint is slightly narrower than the OEM S02s) but don't find it taily or hard to control. If anything, it made it feel more balanced and less prone to understeer. This can be a combination of tyre pressures, wheel alignment and driving style and preferred feel so don't take my experience as gospel.

What cars did you have S03 on.

S15 200SX, HSV R8, Elise, Golf.

Also I don't know anyone who's had the S03s before, and did get them again. As hinted before, one person I know is now running Maxxis after the S03s, and they are a lot better in terms of grip. I'd take Maxxis MA-Z1 over S03s any day.

I remember you saying you couldn't tell between toyo r888's and toyo ra-1's and that u said the r888s are slippery when cold and all sorts of things leaning to ra-1's. I dare say the complete opposite and have also had experience with both.

Fair enough, but I'm confident that if you put either RE55s, DJ01, A888, RA-1, P-Zero Corsa, or Michelin Pilot Sports on the same car, then I will not be able to tell the difference in terms of lap times. A lot more difference will come from the conditions of the tyre/day. Maybe the A888 just suit you better? Also the A888s do not need any wear to be at their optimal, while the RA-1s must be 1/2 worn to extract the best from them.

When did you have have RA-1s ... I thought you were deciding between the A888 and RA-1?

DavidM, you are pretty spot on with most things you say but mate when it comes to tyres I have to say your view is quite off

Maybe it comes down to what you're comparing these tyres to? My reference points are S02s, ContiSport2, and PilotSport. These are the best tyres by far from my experience (in terms of dry grip that is). This is what I judge road tyres against.

Also P-Zero Roso are supposed to be really good, but from my experience they are not that good, and about on par with S03. As I said, nothing wrong with them, but nothing special .... these are to me just 'average' tyres.
