Default Travel - Most Interesting place you have been?

We seem to have a pretty well travelled group here!

What is the most interesting or strangest place you have ever been to?

I've been to some far out places like Ulan Bator. A lot of people there look like me but they speak with a broad Rusian accent! Not a word of Chinese!

Where's that? I speak with a broad Russian accent hehe.

The most interesting place I've been to is Pompeii (I hope I spelled that right). It's like it's frozen in time... almost literally.

Very

Many different spots - hard to pick.

Uganda at the time of Amin's rule was interesting as was travelling through Nicaragua during Sandanista rule.

I thought Zanzibar was pretty cool. Old Islamic architecture combined with incredible tropical waters and spice and fruit growing. Did you know that Freddy Mercury was born there?

Then again the whole of Africa feels pretty special to me because I was born there (in Zimbabwe). I did an overland trip from the Cape to Nairobi a few years ago and it was the best holiday I ever had.

Dubai (Persian Gulf), would be the most interesting. Perth Australia would be the most fun.
